PANTA REI

‘PANTA REI’-

“πάντα ῥεῖi” significa todo fluye: nada permanece inmóvil, todo se transforma.
Cada instante es presente en movimiento.

Con este espíritu abrimos la temporada artística en GÄRNA con la exposición colectiva ‘PANTA REI’ (πάντα ῥεῖ), que reúne las obras de Fernando de Ana, Eva Claessens y Santiago Picatoste.

Una muestra que invita a vivir el arte como tránsito, como experiencia en constante transformación.

 ARTISTS

FERNANDO DE ANA (Talavera de la Reina 1979)

Fernando de Ana is best known for his abstract geometric creations that are crafted using the complex technique of resin and complemented with elements of neon and iridescence. His work can best be described as an overlap between painting, sculpture, and collage, and the materials selected are the foundation for his work. He follows minimalist practices, and carefully arranges the overlapping features of his work to evoke themes of interaction, creating a dialogue between both the viewer and the work, and the viewer and their environment. He originally graduated with a degree in Fine Arts and initially focused on graphic design in the Netherlands, but more recently decided to return to Spain and focus on his artistic career. Since then, he has captured the attention of a variety of collectors, foreign galleries, and media, solidifying his place in the art world.

His recent accomplishments include individual painting exhibitions around Madrid at Art Fair Madrid, ESTAMPA Fair, Gärna Gallery, and Knight Frank, and exhibitions at CasaDecor.  His work is also displayed in a variety of private collections including but not limited to: Louis Vuitton, Santander Central Hispanic Bank, Casino of Madrid, Colonial Collection, Hines Collection, and Watson, Farley and Williams Collection.

EVA CLAESSENS (Antwerp, Belgium)

Antwerp, Belgium
Although she was born and raised in Antwerp, Belgium, Eva Claessens is more like a citizen of the world. After living in several European countries, Israel, India, Jamaica, Chicago and Uruguay, and more than three decades of exhibitions and commissions, her work has transcended borders in an unexpected way.

“Since I was little I fell in love with drawing, it was all I wanted to do. At six or seven, I told my parents that when I grew up, I wanted to be an artist, that I was going to go to Italy to paint. The total assurance that this was my path came at age 8 and I still remember the feeling, the absolute certainty that overwhelmed me.”

At 18 Eva won a full scholarship at the Perugia School of Fine Arts.
The most frequent description of her work is that of a contemporary artist with a passion for light, life, feelings and the beauty of a moment, exploring the human figure. Eva captures emotions, sensations and instants of everyday life.

“I think that my work is more to feel than to define, it is not intellectual. That is why I like to give it the appearance that it is not finished, like life itself, and with the idea that the individual can conclude the piece with his eyes.”

Santiago Picatoste (Palma de Mallorca 1971)

Santiago Picatoste (1971, Palma de Mallorca) is a plastic artist and sculptor who was based in Malaga for 10 years. His extensive biography extends back to 1998, with projects, awards, scholarships, collections and exhibitions all over the world.

Picatoste’s creative process has always involved spontaneity and alchemy, surging from post pictorial abstraction. He has sculptures publicly displayed in a variety of Spanish cities and participated in ARCO since 2002 and in international art fairs such as Art Verona, Art Bologna, SP Arte (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Art Karlsruhe Art Fair (Germany), and Paint and Press NY (EEUU). In 2013, he won the international painting prize from IBERART, ABC Madrid Museum & The Griffin Gallery in London, and the international sculpture prize from The Gabarron Foundation in the E.E.U.U. Also, he has been awarded a scholarship from the Pilar and Joan Miro Foundation and the House of Velázquez
