MARIO VALDÉS
Madrid, 1965
Mario Valdes (1965, Madrid) is a sculptor belonging to several groups in Madrid, including ESTEOESTE, PAVA, and Madrid STONE DESIGNS. His work as a sculptor has two lines of investigation. On the one hand, he explores the possibilities of objects as referents of reality, decontextualizing contemporary industrial materials and using the figure of the chair as a metaphor for the person. On the other hand, he delves into the metaphysical dimension of space using masses of matter, crystals and videos, with which he builds dense or transparent scenes that serve to project the existence of the human being. He combines his work as an artist with his professional practice as an emergency doctor.
