JOCHEM ROTTEVEEL

The Hague, 1976

Jochem Rotteveel (1976, The Hague) investigates the picturesque qualities of duct tape and plastic foil and approaches these materials in a similar manner to painting. Rotteveel has found that tape and plastic foil are the perfect materials to investigate composition, colour, and the borders of an artwork. Rotteveel has been a self-employed artist since 2009, exhibiting his work in Barcelona (SWAB), Madrid (Espacio Naranjo), Shanghai (Pantocrator Gallery), Berlin (Preview Berlin and Gallery Weekend), Rotterdam and Amsterdam (various art fairs). Rotteveel’s artworks are applied on either dibond panels or as murals, directly mounted onto the wall. The works illustrate his artistic research on the fluid boundaries between disciplines, materials and the division between the carrier and the work itself.
