Entre dos y tres grados Fernando de Ana
Septiembre 19 - Octubre 20, 2024
Gärna Art Gallery is delighted to announce “Entre dos y tres grados” an exhibition of new works by Fernando de Ana opening at the gallery´s space on September 18, 2024.
For his third solo exhibition at the gallery, De Ana will present a site-specific installation that will address questions of how we look and perceive. As
usual in his work, the artist seeks to break with the traditional canvas, as we
discover new mediums that surprise and transform us, just like human behaviour.
The title of the show “Entre dos y tres grados” is based on a study conducted by
the Thermographic Laboratory of the University of Granada. This unique study
aimed to demonstrate that body temperature increases when two people in love
touch each other. The hypothesis was confirmed, revealing that areas such as
the abdomen, hands and face experience a temperature rise of between 2 and 3
degrees.
This finding underlines the deep connection between physical and emotional states, illustrating how love manifests not just in feelings but in measurable
physicological changes.
De Ana takes inspiration from these findings, exploring the intersection of
physical and emotional experiences. His installations aim to evoke the warmth
of human touch, creating a sensory experience that resonates with the viewer´s
own feelings of attraction and intimacy.
Fernando de Ana understands exhibitions as a way to influence personal and collective histories, creating intrincate worlds that carve out spaces for freedom, desire, intimacy, and identity. His work transforms personal relationships, places and people into sculptural forms.
De Ana presents a new series that is deeply tied to human desires, delving into the essence of attraction, intimacy, love, rejection and loneliness. The observer encounters the perception of the elusive and ephemeral experience where it trascends the boundary of clear and controlled vision.
This experience of loss of control, instability, and fragility, whether visual, physical, temporal and psycological, mirroring the nature of human emotions.
Through this exhibit, De Ana invites observers to contemplate the tangible effects of their emortions, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the physical manifestations of love. The interplay between the scientific bases of the temperatura increase and the artistic interpretation in his work creates a compelling narrative, making “Entre dos y tres grados” a profound exploration of human connection.
